2:07 pm - Upcoming Project Ideas

I know I haven't written in here in forever, even though I haven't lacked projects to talk about. But here we go.

Summer's coming up. I'll be working a lot, but overall I'll have a lot of time to do crafty things. I've got a bunch of ideas already and should make a list before I forget anything. Also, a list might help me not to plan for too much. Maybe.

Without further ado, I present:

Things I Want to Make/Do/Create/Craft This Summer
  • My very own, unique comforter. All I need is a few yards of fabric, enough space to lay things out, the patience to sew it all together and some batting. And I so desperately want a new comforter. And this way I don't have to spend $80+ on something I really want.
  • Write up pattern (and make) very own, cute as hell tank top. I need to find the right yarn for it, but I'm confident that I'll make something really awesome.
  • Finish that Filet Project. It was supposed to be a Christmas present, then a birthday present, then a Mother's day present, but at this point it's going to be a "whenever I get it done" present. It should be really awesome when it's done, though.
  • Friendship Afghan Squares. I'm participating in a 12" granny square exchange sort of thing, so I've got to make 25 (or so) 12" granny squares by mid-June. Hopefully I'll be getting some of the yarn for that tonight. Then when I get all of the other ones to assemble from the other participants, I'll make a pillowghan! And all will rejoice.
  • Handmade Christmas gifts, perhaps? Wouldn't that be great if I didn't have to do any handmade gifts during fall for Christmas? I don't know what I'd make for everyone, but I'll think about it.

10:19 am - Crochet Projects!

I finally got pictures of the stuff I've done so far. I can't believe it's taken me so long!

The tote bag:

I'm looking into doing another tote bag, wholly different from the above, though. And I'd like to see if I can try my hand at crocheting some lingerie. ;)

10:28 am - First Post, First Crochet Project

I finally got this crafting journal up and running. YAY!

I've been crafting like mad for the past 7 months or so, and I love every second of it. I honestly can't remember what my life was like before I filled it to the brim with crafty goodness. I owe much of my recent re-entrance into the world of crafts to craftgrrl so don't forget to check that out!

Hopefully this journal will be bursting with ideas and projects and whatnot from now on. I do have a digital camera so pictures should be included in every post (unless they'd be irrelevant, or I'm feeling lazy) so without further ado, one of my current projects:

I just taught myself how to crochet this weekend. I'm having a blast. My first real project will be to make a little lap blanket. I've decided to go ahead and contine making granny squares in the lime green and purple combination. The dark green and purple doesn't look right (even in person). And the lime green and purple is funky without being too hideous. I might introduce other colors into it as well. Haven't figured out the exact pattern I should use in putting the squares together. I first figured just an every other checkerboard type thing would work, but once I thought about the possibilities and how endless they are, I realized I'd better hold off until I find something I really love. I'll probably work with MS Paint and try to figure something out.

So that's what I'm all excited about this week. And I should probably try to wrap up some other projects I've started, but I'll talk more about those later. (When I can post pictures!)
